Bodhi’s story: from a diagnosis nobody could use, to a plan the school could

Bodhi, working at his desk

A year ago, Bodhi’s mum felt she had no option but to deregister him from school.

He had a dual diagnosis. But despite the paperwork, school did not know how to meet his needs or help him thrive.

At Education With Lauren, we turned his diagnosis into direction, support and real progress.

Step one

Initial meeting

We listened, reviewed Bodhi’s diagnosis, and understood his unique strengths and challenges.

Step two

Gap assessment

A detailed assessment of learning, cognition, working memory and processing skills.

Step three

In-school provision map

A personalised roadmap of strategies, targets and adaptations to help Bodhi thrive.

Every child deserves to be understood.
At Education With Lauren, we turn diagnoses into direction.

Questions

Frequently asked

My child already has a diagnosis. So why hasn’t school changed?
A diagnosis tells a school what your child has. It doesn’t tell them how your child learns, or what to do differently on Monday morning. That’s the gap we fill — a Gap Analysis Assessment maps your child’s specific strengths, gaps and barriers, and translates them into practical classroom provision a teacher and SENCO can actually deliver.
How is this different from an Educational Psychologist assessment?
An EP assessment is a psychological assessment, usually accessed through the local authority, and waiting lists commonly run to 12–18 months. A Gap Analysis Assessment is an independent educational assessment — it looks at learning, cognition, working memory and processing against the national curriculum, identifies where your child has fallen behind and why, and sets out what school should do about it. It is arranged privately, without a waiting list.
Can the Gap Analysis be used for an EHCP application?
Yes. The report gives you clear, structured evidence of your child’s needs, which you can use, at your discretion, to support an EHCP application or appeal. You decide whether and how to submit it — we’ll make sure you understand what it says so you can use it well.
What happens in the free 15-minute call?
Lauren calls you. You describe what’s happening with your child, what school has said, and what you’ve tried. She tells you honestly whether EWL can help, which service would fit, and what it would involve. There’s no cost, no obligation, and no pressure to book at the end of it.
What happens after the assessment?
You receive a full written report as a professional PDF, sent directly to your inbox, setting out what was found and what should happen next. Where you’ve chosen the School Liaison Service, this includes a targeted provision map written for your child’s class teacher and SENCO, and a tailor-made gap plan set against the national curriculum. Lauren will talk you through the findings so you know how to use them.
Will my child’s school actually act on it?
EWL is fully independent, so the report belongs to you and you decide how it’s used. Schools respond to specific, evidenced, practical recommendations far better than to general concerns — which is exactly what the provision map is designed to give them. Where you’ve chosen the School Liaison Service, the provision map is written directly for teacher and SENCO use.
What if my child is anxious about assessments?
This is very common. The assessment is conducted at home in a familiar environment, and Lauren takes time to make sure your child feels calm and comfortable before and during the session.
What are Lauren’s qualifications and safeguarding checks?
Lauren Robson holds a BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS and a SpLD (Needs & Inclusion) specialism, and an MSc in Neuroscience & Brain Cognition. She is an Advanced Designated Safeguarding Lead (KCC Ref: 331533), holds Advanced Safeguarding Child Level 3 certification and a full Enhanced DBS, and is a member of the Autism Education Trust as an Advanced Training Provider. Education With Lauren is registered with the ICO and holds £5m public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
How do I pay?
Payment is accepted by bank transfer or cash in person. EHCP Personal Budget and EOTAS funding are also accepted. All services are payable by invoice, and no payment is taken until you’re ready to book.
